Russell approaches conflict from a very analytical view. His many years of mediation experience and his extensive conflict management training and education place him among the most qualified mediators in Utah. He is keenly perceptive of the causes of conflict in any relationship, which makes him capable of facilitating discussion in the most difficult conflict situations. He has been involved in the management of conflict on an international, regional, and interpersonal level for many years.

Russell is extremely involved in the international mediation community and many professional organizations. A few of his roles within that community include the following:

  • Chair, Africa Working Group, Association of Conflict Resolution
  • Chair-Elect, Family Section, Association of Conflict Resolution
  • Liaison, Legislative and Public Policy Committee, Association of Conflict Resolution
  • Member, National Communication Association
  • Member, National Speakers Association
  • Member, Africa Working Group on Peace and Conflict, Nova Southeastern University
  • Member, Utah Council on Conflict Resolution

He is currently involved in several projects within the field of conflict analysis and resolution including the following:

  • Development of the Intermountain Region Chapter of the Association of Conflict Resolution
  • Development of Mediation Writer™, a software application for professional mediators and conflict managers
  • Co-authorship of a book on the conflict in the West African nation of Cote d’Ivoire (Ivory Coast)
  • Completion of a Master’s Degree in Conflict Analysis and Resolution from Nova Southeastern University
